Rockets Swim Team - Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate on the Swim Team? Any full-time and Non-Bonded plans (2 & 3).
What time does the swim team meet for practice? The team meets Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. when we are open full-time. Preseason dates will be announced closer to the start of the season. The schedule is ALWAYS subject to change.
Do I have to attend practice to swim in meets? YES, you must attend the daily morning practices to swim in the meets.
How long is the swim team season? The season lasts from the preseason until the last week in July, except for swimmers who qualify for the NJPMA championships; then it continues until the first week of August.
How is it determined whether my child will attend the NJPMA championships? It is based on the time of last year’s championships for their stroke and age group.
Is this a swim lesson? The Swim Team does NOT offer swim Lessons. Your child must know the fundamentals of the strokes, and the coaches will help refine them to build endurance and strength.
Does my child need to know how to swim? Yes, the 5—and 6-year-olds must be able to swim across the far section of the pool without assistance; this is a swim team, not swim lessons.
What do I have to volunteer for? We need parents’ help to run our home and away swim meets. You will be required to volunteer for three meets. Signing up for swim meets is done through SignUpGenius. You will receive an email on how to sign up.
Does the club provide transportation to away meets? No, we do not, and our coaches are not permitted to drive swimmers. It is the parents’ responsibility to get their swimmers to the meet.
